PRK
Began in Europe in the late '80s
- painless, your eye is numbed with anesthetic drops
- performed with the Excimer laser alone directly on the cornea
- removes a layer as thin as a human hair from the cornea
is suitable for:
Quick and simple procedure. Temporary removal of the outer layer of the cornea may cause discomfort
LASIK
The concept goes back to 1990. It became automated around 1995.
- painless, your eye is numbed with anesthetic drops
- a two-step procedure involving the Excimer Laser and the automated microkeratome
The aim is to create a flap so the Excimer laser acts on the corneal bed.
Suitable for:
- nearsightedness ranging between -4 and -15 diopters
- pour agir en profondeur et ne pas cicatriser en surface
- farsightedness up to +6 diopters
A longer and more complex procedure for the ophthalmologist but more comfortable for the patient.
